A Tool Library is just like a book library -- you can "check out" hardware tools, free of cost. If you don't want to spend the money to buy a tool that'll be used lightly, this is perfect for you.
The Mundelein Tool Library is an all-volunteer, community-based nonprofit tool lending library. As part of the sharing economy which prioritizes access over ownership to save money and conserve resources for Mundelein residents, the Mundelein Tool Library is a community resource that encourages civic engagement and volunteerism while building skills and relationships.
The Tool Library allows home owners and apartment dwelling residents the opportunity to use tools without having to store them. Sharing provides access to high-quality, well-maintained tools to all residents, whatever their socioeconomic status may be. The library is a way to make home repair accessible to all people. Tool sharing also eliminates waste and all the environmental effects of manufacturing and shipping goods that may only be used once or twice a year.
The Mundelein Tool Library relies on the support of individuals willing to donate their time, talents, and energy to sustain its service to the Mundelein community.
