A tool library is just like a book library — you can "check out" tools, free of cost. If you don't want to spend the money to buy a tool that'll be used lightly, our tool library is perfect for you!
The Tool Library of Lake County is an all-volunteer, community-based non-profit tool lending library. As part of the sharing economy which prioritizes access over ownership to save money and conserve resources for Lake County residents, the Tool Library is a community resource that encourages civic engagement and volunteerism while building skills and relationships.
Tool Library of Lake County gives people the opportunity to use tools without having to buy or store them. Sharing provides access to high-quality, well-maintained tools to all residents, whatever their socioeconomic status may be. Tool libraries make home repair accessible to everyone. Tool sharing also eliminates waste and negative environmental effects of manufacturing and shipping goods that may only be used once or twice a year.
Tool Library of Lake County relies entirely on the support of volunteers and individuals willing to donate their time, talents, and energy to sustain its service to our community. 💛
